What is a student council

  A student council is a group of elected students working together with an adult advisor within the framework of a school’s rules and regulations to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities,give opportunities for student experience in leadership and ancourage student/ faculty/community relations.

Purpose of the student council

The purpose of the student council is to develop leadership qualities by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare,the student council is the voice of the students.

The appointment of the student council members

The elected students are designated to the following posts.

  1. Head boy
  2. Head girl
  3. House captains
  4. Cultural secretary
  5. Student reporter
  6. Head prefect
  7. Vice- Captains
  8. Other prefects

The first six designation in the above mentioned list are the students from STD XII. The Vice captains are from XI std , while the other Prefects are from std IX and XI.

Procedure of Nomination and Appointment

As per the procedure of our school, the senior staff of IX to XII nominate the students names both boys and girls for various designations, after which the staff in charge for various houses and activities do the voting and then consolidate the results of this election .  The final decision in appointing them will be done by the Principal applying the following criteria.
  1. year of joining the institution
  2. Discipline and character till date
  3. academic performance in the board exams
  4. Sports and extra curriculum
  5. consistency in the overall development of the student.
The appointment of student council members is officially announced by the principal, according to the contribution of a student in the above mentioned criteria.
